The 80th Birthday

A francophile all her life, Elaine was the outward bound type of traveller, loving nothing more than exploring the countryside on foot, or bicycle. No longer being in the position to do so, we thought it was about time she visited Paris, and arranged to meet her there for her 80th birthday.

Lightening the mood, Tracy turned Elaine around to take a selfie of the three of them: Elaine, Tracy and Lisa.

“Look at that, isn’t it incredible?” I said to my companions as we stood in the large public square in front of the building, surveying its features.

 

“It’s the ugliest building I’ve ever seen,” Tracy declared.

I turned to the doorman for guidance. In a masterstroke of client service, he spotted an opportunity to solve the problem. Pushing aside a crash barrier, apparently provided for crowd control purposes, he invited me to park in a no-parking zone, right in front of the theatre.
