The British Grand Prix

Our bucket sports list included a few major events that, being originally British, are part of our cultural heritage. By hook or by crook, we obtained tickets for five major sporting occasions and enjoyed what came to be known as our Great British Summer of Sport. The first of these events was the British Grand Prix.

Trackside

Our seats were in the grandstand at the very beginning of the straight containing the starting grid. This was my first ever Grand Prix and I discovered the entire event was like an assault on the senses. From the track in front of us the Formula 1 cars roared past at upwards of 200 miles per hour, each one a flash of colourful livery, whilst the scent of rubber and exhaust fumes filled the air.

Trophy

After seeing the trophy awarded and the champagne duly sprayed, we headed towards the park and ride to find the most double-decker buses ever assembled in one place at one time.
